About

The Last Word is a Prohibition-era cocktail of rare equality — a true equal-parts drink using gin, green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice in perfect balance. Created in 1915 at the Detroit Athletic Club and later published in Ted Saucier's 1951 book "Bottoms Up," it was largely forgotten for decades before being rediscovered in the early 2000s by Seattle bartender Murray Stenson, who ignited the modern craft cocktail movement's obsession with equal-parts drinks. Herbal, tart, floral, nutty, and complex all at once, the Last Word rewards contemplation and repays every sip. It's the kind of cocktail that makes you understand why some things are worth waiting 50 years to discover.

0.75 oz Gin
0.75 oz Lime Juice
