About

The Blue Sidecar — sometimes called the Sidecar No. Blue — is a stunning variation on the 1920s Sidecar classic that swaps triple sec for Blue Curaçao, transforming the golden-amber original into a vibrant cobalt cocktail. Cognac, Blue Curaçao, and fresh lemon juice follow the same proportions as the classic, with the brandy's rich stone-fruit and oak character pairing magnificently with the sweet orange and citrus of the Blue Curaçao. A sugared rim adds a touch of elegance and sweetness that balances the tartness of the lemon. It is a cocktail that respects its classic roots while being utterly visually unique.

Ingredients

0.75 oz Lemon Juice
0.75 oz Blue Curacao
2 oz Cognac

Instructions

  1. Run a lemon wedge around the rim of a coupe or martini glass, then dip in sugar to create a sugar rim.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. Add cognac, Blue Curaçao, and fresh lemon juice.
  4. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  5. Double strain into the prepared glass.
  6. Garnish with a lemon twist.
