The Vodka Sunrise is a vibrant, visually stunning cocktail that takes the iconic Tequila Sunrise formula and reimagines it with vodka for a lighter, more neutral base. Like its tequila cousin, the drama of the Vodka Sunrise lies in the gradual pour of grenadine — sinking to the bottom of the orange juice and rising in gorgeous red-to-orange gradients that evoke the colors of a sunrise over the horizon. It tastes as beautiful as it looks: sweet, fruity, and refreshing, with the vodka providing a clean backbone while the orange juice and grenadine do the flavor work. Instructions
- Fill a tall highball glass with ice.
- Add vodka and pour orange juice over the top, leaving about half an inch of space.
- Slowly pour grenadine down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon — it will sink to the bottom and create the sunrise gradient effect.
- Do not stir — the layered effect is the whole point.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry on a pick.
