Ranch Water is the unofficial cocktail of West Texas — a crushingly simple three-ingredient highball of blanco tequila, lime juice, and sparkling water that has taken the country by storm. Born in the ranch lands around Marfa, Texas, it's everything a summer drink should be: dry, effervescent, citrus-bright, and dangerously easy to drink. Unlike a margarita, there's no sweetener, which lets the tequila's agave character shine through completely. It's the drink that proved that sometimes less is so much more.
Instructions
- Fill a rocks glass or highball glass with ice.
- Pour in blanco tequila and fresh lime juice.
- Top with sparkling water (Topo Chico is traditional in Texas).
- Give it a brief stir to combine.
- Garnish with a lime wedge.
