El Floridita is the famous Hemingway Daiquiri, born at the legendary bar of the same name in Havana, Cuba — a place Ernest Hemingway called his 'cradle' and visited so frequently that a bronze statue of him now stands at his favorite spot at the bar. This elegant variation on the classic Daiquiri adds grapefruit juice and Maraschino liqueur to the base of rum and lime, eliminating added sugar entirely to create a drier, more complex cocktail. The result is beautifully balanced — the grapefruit's gentle bitterness and the Maraschino's floral cherry notes add layers of sophistication to the clean, tart Daiquiri template. Legend holds that Hemingway ordered them doubled, without sugar, a version he called the 'Papa Doble.'
